Police Chaplain

Vacancy for chaplain at Butterley HQ

A voluntary Chaplain is being sought to offer pastoral support in Derbyshire Police HQ at Butterley near Ripley where some 1500 staff are employed.  It is envisaged that after a transition period the lead chaplain role would be subsumed with oversight of up to 18 volunteer chaplains across the Force i.e. Co-ordinating their recruitment, deployment, training and support.

Training is offered. An ordained (or equivalent) minister is sought for this ecumenical appointment by the Chief Constable through the Workplace Chaplaincy in Derbyshire LEP and is subject to the agreement of the minister’s authorising denomination.

Offering a rewarding role in a well-run Constabulary, the chaplaincy serves staff of all faiths and none providing an opportunity to share with a dedicated workforce and to support their engagement with the community. Expenses will be met

Those interested in the post may wish to have a discussion with the present Lead Chaplain the Rev’d Canon Keith Orford.

If you wish to pursue your interest in this appointment please contact in the first instance the Principal Chaplain, Rev’d Canon Paul Morris.
